Jigsaw Foundation Helps ACA Walking Group Stay on its Feet

Audenshaw Community Association walking group can continue to keep moving thanks to a grant of £700 from Jigsaw Foundation.

The walking group, which meets up every Thursday morning at 10am outside of the community hub, has been up and running for eight years and aims to tackle loneliness throughout the Tameside area.

The walks often take in all the scenic sights dotted throughout Tameside and Greater Manchester, ranging from Dovestone Reservoir to Werneth Low Country Park.

The group hopes to use the grant to cover the cost of travel to walks further afield, help to pay for special equipment such as walking sticks and fund social events such as Christmas dinners.

Brian Horsfall, Treasurer for Audenshaw Community Association and the walking group said “Thanks to this funding, we can keep the walking group going and it gives us security for another year.”

“It was really easy to apply for the Jigsaw Foundation. There were no hang-ups or problems whatsoever and if anyone is unsure, all they have to do is call up and ask for help.”

Anyone can join the group and if you would like to find out more information about how to join, please contact Linda Whyatt from the Jigsaw Foundation team at Linda.Whyatt@jigsawhomes.org.uk or contact the Audenshaw Community Association on Tel: 01613363530.
