Local residents, community groups, and charities across Chorley are being urged to apply for a share of £37,000 of funding with Jigsaw Foundation to help make a difference within their communities.
Each year, more than £450,000 is set aside to help projects in Jigsaw’s community areas. Over the last four years, more than £218,000 has been given to groups across Chorley and there is still £37,000 left for eligible groups to bid for.
In 2022/23, Chorley Youth Zone received £24,499 in funding to welcome thousands of children and young people across Chorley to take part in physical activities and build confidence and social skills. This was the third year in project funding and altogether Youth Zone received £73, 487 from the Jigsaw Foundation.
Janine Blythe, Chief Executive at Chorley Youth Zone, said: “Jigsaw Foundation’s support to Inspire Youth Zone since we first opened our doors has been phenomenal and thanks to their generosity, we have together been able to make real, tangible, sometimes life changing difference for so many children.
“It has helped us to prove that by inspiring and investing in young people and providing them somewhere safe to go, something to do and someone to talk, we’re able to create happier, healthier lives for both thousands of young people who call Chorley home and the wider community.”
The fund has also previously provided:
- £6,995 to Gillibrand Primary School to enable children to learn how to grow plants and vegetables which in turn will contribute to cooking skills
- £8,350 to The Friends of Coppull Library, a warm hub welcoming the community to participate in training for work and skills, activities for children and adults, a gardening club, a craft club and session promoting health and wellbeing
- £2,000 to Chorley’s Angels, an organisation providing first aid cover at various events to keep the community safe, alongside offering young people local volunteering opportunities.

I would urge groups in Chorley to bid for a share of this funding while it is still available.”
Applications from resident groups, local or charity projects, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and partner agencies are still welcome via the Jigsaw Foundation website.
